Day 591: Who Needs Tickets?
Your dad had a long ass day. That's the only way I can describe it. Most of it was spent online or on photoshop trying to get my ticket page sorted out so that I can start selling tickets to the show I haven't yet written... the one in a few weeks. My eyes are rotting out of my skull and at several points during the day I wanted to heave this computer right out the kitchen window.
No matter how savvy our technologies get there seems no end to the glitches and issues that you just can't seem to find a way to work around! I wonder if at any point in the future the human race will finally create a computer that just gets it all right every time. Whatever you want to do is facilitated instantly by this incredible machine that handles everything and allows all of us to run around pursuing our interests with an infallible companion at our side.. or in our head.. or attached to our brain stem.. or however such a machine will manifest.
But manifest it will.
There's no doubt that's coming and probably in our lifetimes.. well, yours for sure, but your dear old dad might be on the cusp. Hard to say. Everyone always over shoots technological predictions -for more on that go watch Back To The Future 3, the day Marty goes to just passed a couple days ago.. still no hologram movie theatres or air drying jackets, not to mention the hover boards and flying cars. Nevertheless, I'll go ahead and hazard a guess that I'll get to see the day, if only as something to look forward to.
A personal companion for everyone with the combined knowledge of humanity, otherwise known as the internet, and perhaps a bit of personality to go with it.
Anyway, back to your fathers current frustrations in the year 2015, a year that is still most definitely sans meaningful robots. At least there aren't any of them up here on the North Mountain. We're still suffering from poor internet up here. The good news is I think my ticket page is pretty well up. The only thing I have to do now is announce it and hope that people share it. I did a test run of the page with my parents, who purchased the first official ticket. Their credit card was run through and they received the email confirmation with the SKU number.
Looks good so far.
I'll see how it goes in the am and make sure the money was received in our bank account but if everything checks out, the tickets for my first show in a while will be up online and ready to go.
I have no expectations for this one. Well, let me rephrase that, I have no expectations for ticket sales or level of interest, but I do of course have high expectations for the quality of the show I'm selling. As such, as soon as I'm sure the ticket mechanism on my site is working, and all the posters are out where they need to be, I'll be diving headlong into the accumulation of scattered bits with an eye toward how I want them to all come out.
That's the initial plan anyway. We'll see how it all plays out.
I'm not quite happy with all the graphics I've got done for the new page, but at this point, as I said, my eyes are rotted out and it's good enough for this minute right now. The fact is, I don't have any more time to work on it even if I wanted to, as your brother has thrown a bit of a fit tonight and is refusing to let anyone else sleep either. He is currently in bed with your mother in a holding pattern until I get done this thing. I will then be taking him to bed with me, where I will proceed to have another rotten sleep full of kicks to the stomach and head butts to the chest.
I feel there were many more things today I wanted to mention but I'm at a complete loss as to what they might have been... nope... nothing. I'm drawing a complete blank.
Anyway, tomorrow will be more of the same as I try to finalize all the ticket nonsense. I'll have to list the shows in the local online site where events go, and then shoot out to print some of the posters and take them to the theatre.
Wait, scratch the 'shooting' out anywhere thing, as your mom will be taking you goblins out to a baby shower tomorrow. Hmmm... okay, well then perhaps I'll be working on material tomorrow after all! Nothing wrong with that... other than the fact I still need to put a roof on the wood shed.
Okay, no worries. It'll all get done Zena. Don't stress out. The good news is our babysit bailed on us tonight... not sure what that means for the rest of the weekend. We'll chat with her tomorrow. I think she had a thing she didn't think she had. No matter, we managed well enough and I was able to get most of the things done I needed to get done. The rest will have to wait for a time in the future that is not right now.
Because right now I'm going to bed.
